Rev. Jonathan Marlowe is one of the senior pastors (along with his wife Angela) at Mt. Zion UMC, where they have been serving since July of 2018. Before coming to Cornelius, Jonathan served as pastor of Midway and Chapel Hill United Methodist Churches in Reidsville, NC. He serves on the Western NC Conference Taskforce on Dismantling Racism, as well as the Planning Committee and Educational Committee of
Unity in Community (a grass-roots organization in the Lake Norman area whose mission is to promote racial equity, healing, and understanding). A native of South Carolina, Rev. Marlowe is a graduate of Emory University and Duke Divinity School and has written for the Journal of Biblical Preaching and The Christian Century. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, reading, taking walks, being part of the Rotary Club of N. Mecklenburg, and volunteering at Cornelius Elementary School.
Pastor Jonathan is passionate about sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ through preaching, teaching, sharing, and living. He is convinced that the Wesleyan way of proclaiming and embodying the gospel has the power to draw people in and transform their lives. Pastor Jonathan enjoys leading worship that is authentic, inspiring, and brings people into an encounter with God through the Word, through the Sacraments, through heart-felt prayer, and through beautiful music. He would welcome the chance to have a personal conversation with you, so please contact him by email or by calling the church office.
